Flying Out

Well we all made it safely. Brian was the first to arrive. I found him sitting in the middle of the Cabo airport on his cooler with his luggage strewn around him. He looked wiped out. I had been out with Cory and Jess the night before and was up until 1:30am packing and getting my last minute things together. I slept for about an hour and a half. I got up at 3:00am and my taxi arrived at 3:30. I got to the airport and checked in by 4:00am. The flights were uneventful and I caught a little sleep on the way to Phoenix. From Phoenix to Cabo I was too excited to sleep. Once Brian and I hooked up we hit the bar in the airport and had a few shots of Don Julio and a couple of Coronas, just to get into vacation mode. Dad showed up about an hour later and we headed off toward the resort. I say headed off toward because we didn't get all the way there before deciding to stop off and get some food from a great little place we discovered last year, "The Crazy Lobster". We all had fajitas and they were by far the best any of us had ever tasted. You just can't beat real Mexican food. We finally got to the resort and checked out the rooms. We have a gorgeous suite directly overlooking the pool and Marina. The place is huge with 2 bathrooms and a full kitchen, but the best part is the huge wrap around balcony that has 180 degree views of the pool and the Marina. I immediately headed for the pool and managed to wash down a Pancho Villa. Some sort of Mexican Long Island Iced Tea type cocktail.. Little tip... always ask what color the drink will be. This one happened to be a lovely shade of pink and I felt quite emasculated by it. I secretly drank it hoping no one noticed and then went back for a more traditional Rum and Coke. I know it sounds like I had a lot to drink for the first day, but like I said... Vacation Mode. I fell asleep on the lounge chair by the pool until Brian came and got me around 8:oopm. It had been a long day. We all went to the room and collapsed. Which was great because we had to be back up at 4:30am to get ready to go fishing. And boy did we FISH.

The pictures of the fish are beautiful; at once descriptive and terrifying. I can't help but feel that, someday, the great, flying, fish-god will descend and wreak his terrible wrath upon humanity for all of its crimes against his chosen people (the fish, obviously). You will be one of the first to whom he will mete justice. Start looking for a hiding place.

The resort looks fantastic. You guys must have had a great time.

P.S., the great, flying, fish-god knows all your secret hidey-holes and can see through walls - find another place.
